资源简介:
This collection comprises images and reports from a descriptive buildings recording (Level 2) at Redditch Fire Station, Redditch, Worcestershire. This work was undertaken by Wardell Armstrong in December 2021 and May 2022. The buildings of Redditch Fire Station have some authenticity as examples of post-war civic buildings which are relatively unaltered in form. The buildings are of limited architectural interest, using mass produced materials common in the post-war era, with a straightforward functional design for the most part. However, the legibility retained in the building and some architectural details - such as the tall windows in the stair towers, the decorative fluted concrete entrance, and the decorative balustrade and banister - add some local architectural interest. The Fire Station itself as an asset has no archaeological interest. The significance of the standing buildings is primarily derived from its architectural and historical interests, although these should not be overplayed: it is of some local interest, although does not reach the threshold for local listing.
