Scope of public institutions for inter-municipal cooperation (own taxation or other)
Public institutions for inter-municipal cooperation (EPCI) are groupings of municipalities whose purpose is to draw up “common development projects within solidarity zones”. They are subject to common rules which are homogeneous and comparable to those of local authorities.

The information presented here relates to private taxation EPCI:

Urban Community (CU);
Community of Agglomeration (CA);
Community of Communes (CC);
Union d’Agglomération Nouvelle (SAN);
Metropolis (ME).

There are also EPCIs without own taxation: single Vocation Intercommunal Unions (SIVU), Multiple Vocation Intercommunal Unions (SIVOM), Closed Mixed Trade Unions (SM Closed) and Open Mixed Unions (open SM).

跨市合作公共机构（EPCI）是由多个市镇组成的联合体，其宗旨为制定“团结区域内的共同发展规划”。此类机构须遵循与地方当局规范同质且可比的统一规则。

此处呈现的信息涉及拥有自有税收权的EPCI类型：
城市共同体（CU）；
集聚共同体（CA）；
市镇共同体（CC）；
新集聚联合（SAN）；
大都会（ME）。

此外亦存在不具备自有税收权的EPCI，包括单一职能跨市联合机构（SIVU）、多职能跨市联合机构（SIVOM）、封闭型混合联合机构（SM Closed）及开放型混合联合机构（open SM）。

— 数据亦可通过法国内政部ASPIC数据库获取（可通过官方提供的URL查询部分或全部省份），但该数据的发布时间疑似为2005年
— 所有EPCI的SIREN代码均可从UNDNU数据库获取
