Socio-economic dataset on household use and valuation of xerophilous thickets ecosystem services in southwestern Madagascar

This dataset contains socio-economic data collected from households in southwestern Madagascar (Soalara-Sud and Andranohinaly) focusing on the use, prioritization, and economic valuation of ecosystem services provided by xerophilous thickets. The dataset includes household-level information on demographic characteristics, livelihood activities, income classification, and dependence on ecosystem services. It is linked to a structured questionnaire implemented through KoboToolbox. Data were used to identify and prioritize ecosystem services, assess their frequency and intensity of use, and evaluate their perceived and economic importance at household level. The dataset also supports multivariate classification of households based on income and livelihood strategies, as well as analysis of ecosystem service dependency patterns.
