Metagenomic 16S rRNA sequences of the entire and active community from soil of different tropical land uses in upland and riparian areas

16S rRNA gene amplicon sequences (V3-V4 region) of the entire and active bacterial community from different land uses in upland and riparian soils, located in Jambi, Indonesia. Next to rainforest, the land uses jungle rubber, rubber and oil palm were sampled in triplicates for upland and riparian areas (jungle rubber was only sampled upland). We sampled the topsoil of 84 plots in total and extracted DNA and RNA. We amplified the V3-V4 region of the 16S rRNA gene and sequenced the amplicons with an Illumina MiSeq sequencer.
