Mensurando as Disparidades Regionais no Brasil: Salários, Custo de Vida e Amenidades Locais

Abstract This paper presents an alternative measure for quality of life (amenities) given by the housing-cost-earnings differentials for micro-regions of Brazil calculated based on microdata from the 2010 Census. The paper show that housing rentals and earnings increase in a nearly linear manner. The results for the quality of life index adjusted by housing quality and caracteristics of its tenant suggest that poorer micro-regions have lower levels of ameinities. Furthermore, the results indicate that the value of amenities is related to geographic location.
