VPRS 7929 Register of Determinations (Residential Tenancies Act)

This series contains the master copy of determinations made by the Residential Tenancies Tribunal from its establishment in 1981. Some consignments consist of hardcopy registers; others are microform registers. Under the Residential Tenancies Act, 1980 (No.8514) which established the Tribunal, any person who, under the definitions established in the Act, was a landlord or tenant and who considered that the terms of his or her tenancy agreement had been breached could make an application to the Tribunal for the dispute to be investigated and for a legally enforceable ruling to be given on the matter. This series was created under section 47 of the Act which required that the Registrar of the Tribunal keep a register of all determinations made. Each record of determination is signed by the member of the Tribunal who made the determination and provides the names of the applicant and respondent, the application number and the Member's legally enforceable decision as to the rights and obligations of the landlord or tenant in respect of each application. The registers therefore provide a record of precedent set by the Tribunal since its inception.
