Ecological concrete is a porous and environment-friendly material, which can reduce nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus) in water, but whether it can remove the nutrients in costal sediments and the role of microbial communities in nutrient removal are largely unknown. In this study, microbial communities were investigated using 16S or 18S rRNA gene high-throughput sequencing during the nutrient removal in costal sediments by using ecological concrete.
