Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico on September 20th, 2017 causing catastrophic devastation. To examine the impact of Hurricane Maria on the gut microbiome among in-utero exposed population, we recruited infants aged 2-6 months who were exposed in utero to Hurricane Maria in the greater San Juan metropolitan area in Puerto Rico and examined the gut microbiome using their stool samples by 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing (n=29).
