The <b>MUMDMC2025 </b>dataset offers a unique and systematically collected sample of microscope rock images from the Eastern Desert of Egypt (Wadi Fatira El-beida). Its distinguishing feature is comprehensive rotational imaging, capturing the full spectrum of anisotropic optical properties. Specifically, for each sample, images are acquired at 5-degree increments across complete 360-degree rotations under both Plane-Polarized Light (PPL) and Cross-Polarized Light (XPL). This detailed approach precisely documents key optical phenomena, including pleochroism variations (e.g., hornblende displaying characteristic green to brown color transitions), extinction angle progressions (e.g., plagioclase exhibiting 0°–20° extinction ranges), and complete birefringence sequences (e.g., biotite showing 0.04–0.08 birefringence variations). The dataset comprises a total of 14,400 high-resolution images, stemming from 72 rotational sequences, covering 5 distinct mineral species, observed under 2 polarization modes (PPL/XPL), and captured from 20 individual crystals.
