资源简介:
Using data from the 2010-2014 (3-Wave) Cooperative Congressional Election Study Panel Survey and the 2010-2012 (2-Wave) CCES Panel Study, we re-estimate the effect of residing near a mass public shooting on attitudes toward gun control. Importantly, we show that accounting for pre-treatment exposure is crucial to retrieving accurate estimates. We report the results from two sets of models: 1) a difference-in-difference design using ordered logistic regression for panel data; and 2) a fixed effects ordered logistic regression model using a "blow-up and cluster" estimator. Our findings are consistent with the conclusion that exposure to one or more mass public shootings increases the likelihood of supporting gun control legislation.
