The Cypris Monitoring Station dates back to 1954 and is located at 54°05’ 50” and 004°50’ 00”, roughly two nautical miles off the coast of Port Erin in the Isle of Man. Phytoplankton monitoring began at the Cypris site in 1995 until 2012 and as of May 2023 has restarted. Data collect from 1995 – 2012 was collected using a Nisken bottle at the surface and seabed (37 m). Samples were analysed using the Utermöhl method and an inverted microscope. Phytoplankton cell counts are abundance values and reported in Cells per Litre.
