VPRS 7421 Nominal Registers

This series consists of the Nominal Registers of Patients at the Yarra Bend Asylum (from 1905 known as the Yarra Bend Hospital for the Insane). A Nominal Register was created periodically to record the names of all patients on the books of the Asylum at any particular time. All patients in residence (both in the past and present) and those out on trial leave were included.Each consecutive volume updates the previous one. Therefore any patient who resided at the asylum over fifteen or more years would have an entry in a number of volumes.Details recorded were:the name of patient,date of admission,date of discharge/transfer/death.Patients' Visitors BookTwo loose pages from a Patients' Visitors Book were found within the pages of unit 5 when the series was transferred from the Charles Brothers Museum, Parkville. The remainder of that Patients' Visitors Book has not been recovered. The two pages remain within unit 5. Details recorded are date of visit, patient, visitor and visitor's address. The date range of the two pages is October 1907 to February 1912. Only patients with a surname commencing with the letter "B" are listed.
