RNA-Sequencing Predicts a Role of Androgen Receptor and Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 1A1 in Osteosarcoma Lung Metastases

To identify OS-specific gene alterations, 38 tumor samples were collected from 29 unique patients with osteosarcoma. We performed RNA-sequencing on 28 primary osteosarcoma tumors and 10 metastatic osteosarcoma tumors. We compared the primary and metastatic genomic signatures of all 38 samples to discover differentially expressed genes. Overall design: Comparative gene expression profiling analysis of RNA-seq data for 14 samples from primary tumor sites in patients that never developed lung metastases, 14 samples from primary tumor sites in patients that did develop lung metastases, and 10 metastatic lung tumors. This group of samples includes 4 sets of matched primary osteosarcoma and metastatic lung tumors.
