Preclinical and clinical studies have shown that alcohol consumption could affect the amount and composition of gut microbiota, then leading to dysbiosis of gut microbiota. Dysbiosis of gut microbiota could also affect intestinal barrier function and further damage liver through microbial product such as LPS. Modulation of gut microbiota is also considered a strategy for the amelioration of alcohol-induced injury, aimed at preventing or delaying liver injury. Therefore, we conducted 16S rRNA gene sequencing to analyze the changes of gut microbiota in each group of mice and detect the effects of folic acid on it.
