资源简介:
Mesa Verde style corrugated, jar fragment, Accession AZRU-00008 Catalog #2095. Analyzed by Lori Reed 2011. Temper is granular igneous rock suggesting manufacture at Aztec. Jar fragment is the top lobe of a bi-lobed jar. Fragment represents roughly 30% of the original jar. Measurements: unknown; too fragmentary. Image AZRU8-2095 A: exterior view of bi-lobed jar fragment showing shape of rim and jar. Image AZRU8-2095 B: top view showing orifice. Image AZRU8-2095 C: top view showing interior of lobe fragment and secondary orifice. Recovered from Earl Morris excavation of Kiva A.5, Aztec West Ruin Annex. Earl Morris’ (1924:246) description of Kiva A.5 at the time of excavation is as follows: “This kiva was a cylindrical pit lined with a one-course wall of cobblestones and re-used sandstones indiscriminately mixed. There had been adobe plaster, smoked black, but most of it had peeled off. The diameter was 9 feet 9 inches and the distance from floor to surface 7 feet 7 inches. Even the south banquette was absent, the walls being pierced only by the ventilator tunnel…Covering the portion of the floor not occupied by the mass [wall fall] already mentioned, there were wall stones probably allowed to fall in as the roof was being dismantled. On top of a heap of these against the west wall 1 foot above the floor was an unbroken mug (Field No. 5199) and the top of a corrugated pot of unusual form (Field No. 5200)… At the south center, 2 ½ feet from the floor, lay a large bowl inverted (Field No. 5198). The bottom had been worn completely through, then patched with a disk-shaped sherd from a corrugated pot stuck to the inner surface with pitch.” Reference: Earl Morris, 1924, Burials in the Aztec Ruin and the Aztec Ruin Annex, Anthropological Papers of the American Museum of Natural History Vol. XXVI, Parts III and IV, American Museum of Natural History, New York.
