24 salivary gland samples from swiftlet, Aerodramus spp (16 Aerodramus fuciphagus and 8 Aerodramus maximus samples) were used to perform tissue specific RNA-seq. In additional, two Apus afinis samples were also included as out-group population. As reference genome for swiftlet species or any close homolog is currently lacking, transcriptome assembly was conducted through de novo approach. Main objective of this project is to characterize transcriptome profiles of different swiftlet species, identified certain gene of interest and elucidating gene-gene interaction.
