Evolution of Pseudomonas sp. ADP under atrazine selection pressure. Pseudomonas sp. ADP

The bacterial strain Pseudomonas sp. ADP was isolated from soil in the 1990's for its ability to degrade the herbicide atrazine. Evolution experiment was performed on this strain using liquid culture containing atrazine as sole nitrogen source. During the course of evolution, the ancestral strain Pseudomonas sp. ADP (ADP0) was replaced by a newly-evolved population (ADP1) which was in turn replaced by ADP2. Each of these populations presents a higher fitness to grow under atrazine selection pressure than the previous one. To identify the genetic basis of this evolution, the genomes of the ancestral and the evolved populations were sequenced .
