This dataset provides monthly maximum gross primary productivity (GPPmax) of global grasslands from 1982 to 2020. GPPmax values were generated by calculating seasonal maximum monthly GPP generated by upscaling site-level eddy covariance flux measurements using a machine learning approach. The data can be used to examine long-term trends in grassland productivity, assess regional variations, and investigate the effects of climate drivers such as decadal droughts.
