To investigate the function of meiosis-specific SMC1beta on chromatin architecture near the telomeric end in primary murine spermatocytes we used a SMC1beta knockout mouse model. Overall design: Further to study seperation of function of universal cohesin subunit SMC1alpha and meiosis specific SMC1beta, we compared open chromatin between SMC1b knockout spermatocytes and SMC1alpha overexpressed in a SMC1beta knockout mouse model.
