Cardiovascular Model & Dataset

This study presents an electrical model of the cardiovascular system for estimating breath-by-breath intra-trunk blood shifting (VbsIT). Validated in healthy participants during various breathing patterns and exercise, the model quantifies VbsIT fluctuations, which increase with abdominal and rib cage breathing and expiratory flow limitation. This tool may enhance the understanding of cardiorespiratory function in health and disease, including COPD and heart failure.
