Coordinate-sorted, bgzip-compressed, and tabix-indexed build of the GENCODE v50 comprehensive gene annotation for human (GRCh38). This enables random genomic-region access — reading only the features overlapping a locus (via tabix / htslib / pysam / pygenogrove) instead of streaming the whole file. The upstream GENCODE distribution ships plain-gzip GFF3 with no index; this record adds the sort + bgzip + tabix needed for region queries.
