Microbial communities in savanna soils of Kruger National Park, South Africa

In this study we investigated the unknown microbial diversity in the savanna soils of two catenas in Kruger National Park (South Africa) by Illumina MiSeq amplicon sequencing of bacterial and archaeal 16S rRNA genes. The aim of this study was to characterize South African savanna soil microbial communities along catenas on contrasting bedrock material. Soil samples for this study were taken from seven locations at these catenas in March 2014.
