The focus of the study was to comprehend parents’ and teachers’ understanding and practices of play and learning for young children using a qualitative case study research design. Case study research was adopted in the study being the best design for approaching the primary question. Convenient purposive sampling was used, selecting six parents and four teachers from middle-income areas around Pretoria as participants. Data was collected from participants using an open-ended qualitative questionnaire/telephonic interviews. The data analysis used was thematic analysis by highlighting emerging themes and subthemes, allowing the researcher to formulate findings. The study incorporated several aspects to ensure trustworthiness: transferability, credibility, authenticity, conformability and dependability.
本研究旨在运用定性案例研究方法,深入探究父母与教师对幼儿游戏与学习的认知与实践。案例研究方法因其对核心问题的直接切入而成为研究之首选。研究采用了便利的定向抽样,选取了来自比勒陀利亚周边中等收入区域的六位家长和四位教师作为研究对象。数据收集通过开放式定性问卷及电话访谈的方式进行。数据分析采用主题分析法,通过提炼主题及其子主题,使研究者得以构建研究结论。为确保研究结果的可靠性,本研究融入了多个维度,包括可迁移性、可信度、真实性、一致性及可靠性。
