Subgingival microbiome in periodontitis patients and their children

Characterization of the subgingival microbiome is important for periodontitis comprehension. The early acquisition of oral pathogens since childhood can represent a risk for the development of the periodontal disease. Thus this project aimed to i) understand the subgingival microbiome of affected subjects and ii) analyze how the parents' microbiome can impact the microbiome of their children and how it could impact the oral health of periodontitis patients descendants.
