资源简介:
The Three O'clock Shelter (5WL1997) is a multi-component rockshelter located in the West Stoneham Archaeological District of the Pawnee National Grassland in northeastern Colorado. Six pollenand phytolith samples were collected from several culturally affiliated layers in and around the rock shelter. The seventh sample previously was examined (Cummings et al. 1995) and was integrated with the present data base. The samples generally represent areas of low cultural impact or areas peripheral to high culturally impacted locations. Radiocarbon ages currently associated with the samples range between 1540 + 70 and 920 + BP, and represent Mid to Late Plains Woodland occupations. Later, Upper Republican and Plains Apache (Dismal River) occupations also are represented. The pollen and phytolith samples provide information on cultural activity at the site, as well as on prehistoric vegetation in the area.
