As a result of the dwindling sales caused by the lockdowns imposed amidst the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, six major department stores in the United States filed for bankruptcy in 2020. The six department stores were Century 21, Stein Mart, Lord & Taylor, J.C. Penney, Stage Stores, and Neiman Marcus.
