Microbiome of bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) and floor dust samples of bed bug infested and control homes

Bed bug (Cimex lectularius) infestations have become increasingly common in residences, hospitals, the hospitality industry, and public transportation. They constantly defecate and add a lot of organic residues in the form of molted cuticles and dead bugs to the home environment. We investigated the effects of bed bug infestations on the microbial diversity of household dust and the effects of bed bug elimination on the dust microbiome.
