A collaborative random whole genome shotgun (WGS) sequencing project. Aedes aegypti strain:Liverpool

The Liverpool strain of Aedes aegypti was selected for genome sequencing using a random whole genome shotgun (WGS) approach. The A. aegypti mosquito has a genome size of approximately 800 Mb and the projected goal for sequencing coverage is 8x. The A. aegypti WGS project is a collaboration between The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) and The Broad Institute. The WGS sequencing project has the project accession AAGE00000000. The initial version of the project (01), a preliminary assembly with approximately 5-fold coverage released on February 11, 2005, has the accession number AAGE01000000, and consists of sequences AAGE01000001-AAGE01655158.
