Records of past temperature, precipitation, and other climate variables derived from instrumental measurements (for example thermometers, rain gauges). Instrumental data obtained from the Paleoclimatology archive typically has been reformatted or re-calibrated or summarized in a way that makes it more useful for comparison with paleo proxy data. For example, the Paleoclimatology archive provides the "HadCRU" and "NCEP Reanalysis" temperature data in netCDF format at annual resolution, with seasonal and annual mean values. Information on the changes from the original can be found in the data set descriptions, including the links to the original data.
