The Encyclopédie (Diderot & d'Alembert, 1751–1772): Full Text of the First Edition from Wikisource
收藏资源简介:
This dataset provides the full text of all entries from the first edition of the Encyclopédie, ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers (1751–1772), edited by Denis Diderot and Jean le Rond d'Alembert. The entries were extracted from the French Wikisource edition, a collaboratively transcribed and proofread digitization of the original 18th-century text, based on scanned page images of the original volumes. The underlying scans and any prior transcription work that fed into the Wikisource proofreading process are not specified here; only the Wikisource edition itself is the direct source of this dataset. No editorial changes have been made to the entry text itself — spelling, wording, and content are reproduced exactly as they appear in the Wikisource edition. The only processing applied was technical extraction (parsing individual Wikisource pages into the flat lemma-to-text JSON structure of this dataset); no correction, modification, or curation of the underlying text was performed. Coverage: 45,449 entries Data format:The dataset is distributed as a single JSON file: a flat dictionary mapping each entry's lemma (headword) to its full text. { "<lemma>": "<entry text>", ...} Licensing note:The original text of the Encyclopédie is in the public domain, as its publication (1751–1772) and authors' deaths predate any applicable copyright term. However, the specific transcription used as the source for this dataset was produced collaboratively on Wikisource, a Wikimedia project. This dataset is therefore released under CC BY-SA 4.0, with attribution to the Wikisource contributors who produced the underlying transcription.
