S. coelicolor M1146 serves as a potent organism for BGCs heterologous expression and exhibits intrinsic resistance to multiple classes of antibiotics, indicating the involvement of many genes in diverse transduction pathways that facilitate responses to antibiotic challenges, thereby making it an excellent resource for biosensor development. To screen the promising regulator elements for developing genetically engineered biosensors, we performed transcriptomic analysis of S. coelicolor M1146 under treatment with four representative antibiotics with distinct modes of action, including bacitracin, flavomycin, vancomycin and polymyxin E, all of which act at different stages of cell wall biosynthesis or impair cell membrane integrity.
