Official travels of foreign personalities to France (1944-2008)
收藏资源简介:
The official travel department, under the authority of the Directorate-General of the National Police, takes care of security measures around foreign personalities during their official trips or private stays. Archive records produced in connection with these missions are kept in the National Archives. The various detailed inventories made it possible to establish a structured and detailed chronological list of official trips of foreign personalities between 1944 and 2008. This list of more than 560 trips to France, which does not claim completeness, concerns only those in office. Only the so-called “official” travel has been retained – as far as possible. They are therefore not concerned with punctual crossings in France (country of transit to the American continent or Great Britain) or stays on a private basis. Some foreign leaders (e.g. Léopold Sédar Senghor) stayed in France for several months, alternating private trips and official visits: in these cases, there is only one “official trip” entry per year. The dataset made available consists of the following information: * Country of origin of the individual; * Country code; * Status: head of State, Head of Government, Sovereign and Religious Head; * Individual; * Initial content: record in the archive inventory; * Year of start of official journey; * Start date of official travel; * The end date of official travel; * URL of the record of the National Archives; * File rating. Map access is offered here, based on the column _country code._ The archives of the Official Travel Service available at the National Archives generally consist of the following documents: detailed travel schedule (sometimes printed brochure), order of official cars, table plan, safety notes and correspondence, press clippings. The data will be updated with subsequent archive payments from the Official Travel Service. Last updated on 20/04/2023: addition of 22 official trips between 2004 and 2008 (archive payment 20220621)
