The muscle physiology of <i>Apostichopus japonicus</i> was detected by ultra performance liquid chromatography and quadrupole time-off-light mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF-MS) to clarify the potential physiological mechanisms of the effect of pedal neuropeptide on locomotor behavior in sea cucumber A. japonicus. All procedures involved in animal collection, rearing and dissection were performed under the Guideline of Ethical Regulations of Animal Welfare of the Institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOCAS 2013.3). Our research protocols were approved by the Animal Welfare Committee of the IOCAS. <br>
