资源简介:
This is a replication dataset for the manuscript titled: \"Biological landscape of acute illness in children in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.\" Childhood illness remains significant cause of mortality and morbidity in children globally, especially in low-resource settings including Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia which bear majority of the burden. Illness such as malaria, diarrhoea and pneumonia have been attributed with most of the deaths among children in resource-constrained settings. The biological mechanism that underlies the acute illness in children remains incompletely understood. The current study aimed to understand the relationship between biological processes and acute illness in children in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, evaluate the influence of malnutrition on these relationships and compare the biological pathways in hospitalised and well children. This study used plasma proteomics, and serum metabolimcs and lipidomics measured at hospital admission and from non-hospitalised children from the same settings as their hospitalised peers.
