Flowers in a Vase

The idea of this piece is close to the one of La Petite Fée des eaux. For this pi9ece Rodin shows a technique in which he does not use an old piece of his collection but a "moulage" of an antique piece. The piece is presented as a marble block in which two figures are placed. The two figures have been remodelled, fragmented and reassembled into the new piece. Rodin was known for not respecting the artistic convention stating that a sculpture was considered to be finished only if completed. He highly expressed his passion for uncomplete figures as well as assemblages of different pieces to give them "new life".
