Experimental data on welfare discrimination against ethnic minorities in Spain

This dataset contains data from a survey vignette experiment conducted in July 2023 (N = 2,386) to examine "welfare discrimination" against ethnic minorities. Respondents were exposed to profiles of young, fictitious claimants eligible for a means-tested social policy. The profiles varied randomly by ethnicity (Spanish, Latin American, and North African) and phenotype (light-skinned Caucasian and Black), with the latter constrained to claimants of foreign ancestry for plausibility. We focus on policy support to explore the role of ethnicity and phenotype in shaping such redistributive preferences.
