Long-read WGS characterization of ESBL-producing E. coli isolates from dairy cattle in Northern Spain

As part of a longitudinal study carried out to assess the within-farm dynamics of several food-borne pathogens in dairy cattle farms, the genome of 41 isolates of Escherichia coli isolated in cefotaxime-containing media was sequenced using long-read whole genome sequencing with the Oxford Nanopore Technology. Sequence data will be used for a complete characterization of the isolates (genetic determinants of antimicrobial resistance, virulence factors, plasmid replicons, strain typing, etc).
