We report broad developmental differences in gene expression profiles between neonatal (term) and adult naive CD4 T cells, resulting in non-stereotypic Th17 differentiation responses to TGF-beta. Overall design: Total RNA obtained from naïve CD4 T cells (CD3+CD4+CD45RO-CCR7+CD25-) isolated by Fluorescent Activated Cell Sorted (FACS) from 12 neonates (cord blood) and 12 adults (peripheral blood) donors.
