the pan-genome of eggplant

We conducted a genomic study on the world-wide cultivated eggplant varieties as well as the wild and intermediate eggplant varieties. The main aim of this study was to better understand the evolution of eggplant through domestication. The results of our studies help elucidate the genomic and phenotypic changes that have occurred during different stages of eggplant domestication, i.e. original split from the wild species and subsequent improvement stages. Such insight can also facilitate breeding efforts toward eggplants with higher yield and better disease resistance.
