Small RNAs play a critical role in host-pathogen interaction and microRNAs have emerged as key regulators of viral infections. Based on this evidence, we wished to contribute to this research field by identifying and characterizing cellular microRNAs with a positive or negative role on Sindbis virus (SINV) infection. Taking advantage of large scale sequencing, we cloned and sequenced small RNAs from Huh7.5.1 cells. We analyzed the expression levels of cellular microRNAs and we compared with the results of a mimic genome-wide screening using SINV-GFP as reporter. Altogether, our results indicate a positive role for the cellular miR-124-3p in SINV infection.
