CPRD Small Area data (practice) March 2026

The general practice postcode linkages are available for all practices in CPRD Gold and CPRD Aurum and use the general practice postcode which is linked via lower layer super output area (LSOA) in England and Wales, super output area (SOA) in Northern Ireland, and data zone (DZ) in Scotland. The general practice postcode linkage includes several well-known area-based measures of deprivation, including the Index of Multiple Deprivation, Townsend Deprivation Index and Carstairs Index, and Rural-Urban Classification, which are available at the LSOA level for linkage to CPRD primary care data through the practice postcode. Additionally, Sub-Integrated Care Board Locations (Sub-ICB Locs) pseudonym (practice level, England-only) is available. As of September 2025 we also offer a practice-level coastal indicator for English practices only.

The small area data are made available for practices appearing in the CPRD Gold (March 2026) and CPRD Aurum (March 2026) releases.
