资源简介:

Understanding the dynamics of deep fluid systems is crucial for assessing volcanic activity and its environmental impact. This study investigates the diffusive emissions from the Solforata of Pomezia, revealing a significant release of CO2 and CH4 (19.8 tons/day and 67.3 kg/day respectively). This area is charachterized by anomalous degassing from the soil and by the presence of CO2-rich free gas vents. The latter rise either from (i) small fractures and/or (ii) as bubbling. This phenomenon is contextually releated to the geomorphology of the area; on one hand the seismic activity, which characterise the area, can lead to the opening of new fractures, on the other hand the thermal water circulation can cause the closure of others. Monitoring through discrete field campaigns becomes imperative to assess the emission rate and its variations over time. Furthermore, isotopic markers (such as noble gases ratio), elucidate the origin of these emissions (likely mantle), offering insights of fluid migration and volcanic processes. This research underscores the necessity of ongoing monitoring efforts in volcanic areas to mitigate risks and safeguard both public health and the environment.
