HUMBUG ZOONIVERSE is a crowdsourced acoustic mosquito dataset co-developed by institutions including the University of Oxford and the University of Surrey. This dataset contains 195,434 two-second labeled audio clips, approximately 10% of which are mosquito events. It includes recordings of multiple mosquito species in both laboratory and field environments, with the goal of advancing automated mosquito detection through deep learning technologies, thereby supporting malaria reduction efforts. The dataset was created with extensive participation via the Zooniverse crowdsourcing platform, drawing on contributions from over 1,000 volunteers. Primarily applied in malaria research—particularly in bioacoustic detection and signal processing—this dataset serves as a valuable resource for related studies.
