Environmental variable measurements within the Corsican Marine Protected Area “Parc Naturel Marin du Cap Corse et de l’Agriate”, Mediterranean Sea (2019–2021)

Despite ecological monitoring of coastal water bodies carried out under European directives (Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC, Marine Strategy Framework Directive 2008/56/EC), the absence of mesoscale studies and fragmented local observations highlight the need to establish a reference-state water bodies measurements within the Corsican Marine Protected Area “Parc Naturel Marin du Cap Corse et de l’Agriate.” A baseline assessment, through monitoring and evaluating water quality with regard to eutrophication, is therefore required. This work is carried out as part of the management plan of the Corsican Marine Protected Area “Parc Naturel Marin du Cap Corse et de l’Agriate”, which aims to improve knowledge of these coastal waters and define their environmental baseline. To this aim, three field surveys were carried out in autumn 2019 and in spring and summer 2021 at 40 stations, with measurements performed on 11 parameters (Malet et al. 2023). The present dataset compiles all the biological and environmental observations collected during these three surveys.
