Imagery reconstructions in 3D of 14 active edifices at the Lucky Strike hydrothermal vent field (Mid Atlantic Ridge).

Fourteen edifices of the Lucky Strike Hydrothermal vent Field (LSHF) were suveyed by imagery to create 3D reconstructions : Bairro Alto, Crystal, Cypres, Helene, Isabel, Pico, Sintra, Snowman, South Crystal, Timor, Tour Eiffel, Vazydon, White Castle and Y3. They are located around the lava lake of the main Lucky Strike Hydrothermal Vent Field (LSHF) and the coordinates are shown in the table below. The edifices have been surveyed with the remotely operated vehicle Victor6000 for inter-annual monitoring during the 2024 Momarsat cruise. Videos were collected during dives 862-3 (South Crystal, Timor, Vazydon), 863-4 (Isabel, Sintra, Y3), 864-5 (Bairro Alto, Crystal, Helene, Snowman, Pico, White Castle) and 866-7 (Cypres, Tour Eiffel) with a forward-looking HD camera and video sequences were used to build a 3D model of the edifice using structure-from-motion techniques. A first series of data includes images extracted every 3 seconds from the videos using the Matisse preprocessing software. The images are time-stamped and linked to a navigation file, which is generated by interpolating navigation data at the corresponding timestamps. A second series of data includes 3D textured models of the edifices (obj format) together with the a kml file for georeferencing, built using the 3DMetrics software. The ROV navigation files (.txt) are provided separately and were processed from raw acoustic data using the ROV trajectory information to smooth the final navigation.
