Plasmodium falciparum Targeted Locus (Loci)

The objective of this project is to profile genetic diversity in clinical samples in a region of a malaria gene that is used in a vaccine. We wish to use PCR-based 454 sequencing to identify distinct haplotypes and SNPs within 288 clinical samples. One amplicon (TEP) will be examined in all 288 samples, and another amplicon (BEP) will be amplified and sequenced in a subset of samples.
