Epidemiological and Genotypic Analysis of Candida albicans Outbreak in a Neonatal Ward

Candida albicans is the leading cause of candidemia and can cause nosocomial outbreaks, resulting in high morbidity and mortality rates. Abnormal increase in C. albicans titers was identified in blood cultures of the neonatal ward. Here, we analyzed an outbreak of candidemia caused by C. albicans in a neonatal ward. Epidemiological, microbiological, and environmental investigations were performed based on the clinical characteristics and genome resequencing.
