The effects of climate and land cover on hazel dormouse body size over space and time

This dataset was used to study the effects of climate and land cover on hazel dormouse (<i>Muscardinus avellanarius</i>) body mass over time and space in Britain. It is based on a 30 year monitoring dataset collected through the National Dormouse Monitoring Programme (NDMP) organised by the People's Trust for Endangered Species (PTES). The monitoring programme covers 706 monitoring sites distributed across England and Wales. This datasets also includes all the scripts used to carry out the analysis for the manuscript.The submission includes two csv files, one used in the spatial analysis (“dormouse_spatial_summary_data_July2025.csv”) and the other used in the temporal analysis (“dormouse_temporal_summary_data_July2025.csv”). Both files include site location in WGS 1984 coordinates at 10 km resolution, year, season (May-June (post-hibernation stable body mass) or Oct-Nov (pre-hibernation)), sex of the individuals sampled, number of individuals sampled, and the average body mass of the individuals sampled.The submission also includes three R scripts used to analyse the datasets in the manuscript: temporal analysis, spatial climate analysis and spatial landcover analysis.<br>
