The study focuses on the genome sequencing and population resequencing of Brainea insignis, an sole species in its genus and an endangered fern that belongs to the eupolypods II group. The primary goal is to assemble a high-quality reference genome to better understand the genetic basis of its unique evolutionary traits, adaptation mechanisms, and ecological resilience. Additionally, population resequencing will provide insights into genetic diversity, population structure, and evolutionary history, contributing to the conservation and sustainable management of this endangered plant. This study not only provides valuable insights into the genomic evolution and adaptive challenges of ferns but also lays a scientific foundation for developing conservation strategies for ferns under the threat of climate change.
