Streptomyces hawaiiensis strain:ATCC 12236 Genome sequencing

Streptomyces hawaiiensis is a soil isolate that produces acyldepsipeptides (ADEPs), a special class of antibiotics that stimulate the ClpP, causing uncontrolled proteolysis that inhibits of bacterial cell division and eventually leading to bacterial cell death. Here, we sought to sequence the complete genome [>8-Mb] of Streptomyces hawaiiensis NRRL 15010 to help provide insight into ADEPs biosynthesis and predict further secondary metabolites that this organism harbors.
